Bobby Woolard

Bakersfield Police Department

Bobby Woolard began his life to service as a U.S. Marine in 1989. Post Marine Corps, he worked as a Correctional Officer with the California Department of Corrections for several years. In 1997, Captain Woolard was hired by the Bakersfield Police Department. He has worked in a variety of line-level and supervisory positions in the Bakersfield Police Department, including Patrol, the Special Enforcement Unit, Investigations, SWAT, Training & Logistics and Internal Affairs. Captain Woolard was promoted to the acting Captain position of the Special Operations Division in August of 2020.

Captain Woolard possesses a Master’s Degree from California State University, Bakersfield in Public Administration, a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University Long Beach in Management, and he is a graduate of the FLETC – DHSLA Leadership Course Session 8, Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute Class 366, and Special Weapons and Tactics Commander Course.

Captain Woolard is very active in our community. He is on the board for Camp Hamilton Veterans Memorial Park. He is also a member of the California Tactical Officer Association and California Peace Officers Association.

Captain Woolard has dedicated his life to public service whether it be federal, state, or local. He values the philosophical belief that it truly takes a humanitarian heart to serve the community and is grateful to serve with men and women who have like-minded tenets.
