Captain Jason Matson
Jason Matson is Captain for the Bakersfield Police Department and manages the Support Services Division for the department. He has over 18 years of law enforcement experience that includes working as a patrol officer, K-9 handler, member of several federal task forces and the department’s Honor Guard. Captain Matson graduated CSUB with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and a Master’s of Public Administration.
In addition to his career in law enforcement, Captain Matson works as a lecturer for CSUB’s Business program, Criminal Justice Program and Public Administration Program. He lectures on topics that examine the interactions between business, government and society, as well as policy development and leadership. He has also lectured in CSUB’s Master’s Program in Public Administration on the topic of examination of Administrations in the United States Criminal Justice System and Master’s of Business Program on the topic of managerial skill development.
Captain Matson is married and has two children. He and his family are avid travelers and enjoy hobbies such as attending family socials, camping, and cooking. Captain Matson believes that education is the foundation to self-fulfillment and as such is planning to pursue a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership in the next few years.
