Mike Hale

Bakersfield Police Department

Assistant Chief Mike Hale manages the Training and Logistics Division, Support Services Division, and the Investigations Division. Assistant Chief Hale was born and raised in Bakersfield and is a 25 year veteran of the Bakersfield Police Department. He worked as a Bakersfield Police Reserve Officer for two years before beginning his full-time career, and he is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Assistant Chief Hale has worked in a variety of assignments during his tenure including; Patrol, Field Training Officer, Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit), K-9 Unit, SWAT, Foot Beat Unit, and the Civil Disturbance Team. He was a Detective in the Investigations Division where he worked in Financial Crimes, Narcotics, and Robbery/Homicide. He also worked for the Office of the Chief of Police as an Internal Affairs Detective. Assistant Chief Hale has also worked as a Patrol Sergeant, Foot Beat Sergeant, Training Lieutenant, Investigations Lieutenant, and Patrol Lieutenant.

Assistant Chief Hale began his education by receiving his Associates in Liberal Arts from Bakersfield College. He then went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from the University of La Verne and obtained his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University Bakersfield. He also has his POST Management Certificate and POST-Supervisor School Certificate.
