CLAYTON MADDEN
Captain
Clayton Madden was hired by the Bakersfield Police Department in 1997 and has worked a variety of assignments as an officer, including Patrol, FTO, Traffic, Canine handler, Special Enforcement Unit, and Narcotics.
In 2007, Clayton Madden was promoted to Detective and worked in a variety of details, including Burglary, Federal Gang Task Force, Major Narcotics, and Robbery Homicide. Later, in 2012, Clayton Madden was promoted to Sergeant and worked a variety of line-level supervisory positions, including Patrol and Financial Crimes, Burglary, and Robbery Homicide.
In 2017, Clayton Madden was promoted to Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, Clayton Madden managed the Traffic Unit and Special Enforcement Unit. In 2020, Clayton Madden promoted to Captain, where he currently oversees the Field Services Division.
Captain Madden possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute Class of 370, and California POST Management.
Captain Madden is active in our community. He’s in his 12th season as a High School Varsity Basketball Head Coach. He manages the Bakersfield Police Department’s Junior Police Academy and has served on the Bakersfield Police Activities League board and STEPS board.
For Captain Madden, it gives him a sense of pride to serve in the community he grew up in. Not only does he feel that he’s protecting the community, but he’s protecting his community.
