NATHAN MCCAULEY

Captain

Captain Nathan McCauley was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served as an Infantryman and deployed to Iraq three times in support of combat operations.

Captain McCauley joined the Bakersfield Police Department in 2007. Throughout his career, he has worked a variety of assignments, including Patrol, the Special Enforcement Unit, Burglary, Vice/HT, Internal Affairs, and Robbery/Homicide. From 2019 to 2020, he served as the department’s Public Information Officer, acting as the agency’s primary spokesperson and liaison to the community and media. Captain McCauley holds an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts, a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership.

Captain McCauley was promoted to Captain in March 2025 and currently serves as the Investigations Division Commander.
