RYAN KROEKER

Captain

Captain Ryan Kroeker oversees the Field Services Division, which encompasses the patrol operations of the Bakersfield Police Department. Ryan grew up in Shafter California attending Shafter High School, followed by attending Bakersfield College and Sacramento State University where he graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.

Ryan started his career with the Bakersfield Police Department in 2006 and has worked many assignments throughout his career. As an officer he worked patrol, gangs and also in the Traffic Division. He was promoted to detective in 2012 where he worked in the homicide detail prior to being promoted to Sergeant in 2014. As a sergeant he worked patrol, gangs, VCAT (Violent Criminal Apprehension Team), Internal Affairs, Academy coordinator and served as the department’s Public Information Officer. Ryan was promoted to Lieutenant in 2020 where he worked patrol, and then served as the Chief’s Adjutant. For many years of his career Ryan was assigned to the SWAT team and served as a team member.

Ryan enjoys spending time with his family as well as participating in all different types of physical challenges. He is also involved with his church and strives to be someone who brings the best out in others.
