PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST
Preparation
A career as a police officer on the front lines is not for the faint of heart – or the weak of muscle. Without even acknowledging the elements of physical contact or pursuing a fleeing suspect on foot, the profession requires you to work long shifts with several pounds of gear attached to your body, twist and maneuver in and out of a police car several times per day, and sit for lengthy periods of time. Your physical fitness is of critical importance – for your safety, and the safety of those you wish to protect.
Practice
In the very least, you’ll need to stick to a sensible physical health and wellbeing schedule as part of your practice. The test includes elements that will force you to sprint and run longer distances, as well as other practical activities that will test your strength and endurance. General internet searches will provide you with an understanding of the exam’s main components and measures you can take to increase your chances of success. Familiarize yourself with these elements by watching online videos and figuring out how to integrate them into your workouts. Many candidates have had success with H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training) programs, Crossfit workouts, and other high-intensity workouts.
Examination
You should arrive on test day dressed for a workout, as you will be required to perform a particular set of exercises in the time allotted. Exercises include jumping over a six-foot fence, a 165-pound dummy drag, a 99-yard obstacle course, and a 500-yard run; all events are timed. Don’t believe that only because you exercise frequently, you’ll be able to complete the challenge successfully! Those that arrive well-prepared and trained have a much better chance of succeeding.
