Acting captain jeremy blakemore
Lieutenant Jeremy Blakemore is currently serving in the capacity of an Interim Police Captain where he manages the Training and Logistics Division. As the division commander, Captain Blakemore is responsible for the hiring and recruitment of police department personnel, the Bakersfield Police Academy, the Planning, Research, and Training Section, and the Defensive Tactics and Arrest Control Team.
Captain Blakemore was born and raised in Bakersfield and has been serving this community with the Bakersfield Police Department since 2003. He has worked in a variety of assignments and positions across the organization.
As an officer, Captain Blakemore worked as a K-9 Unit Handler and the Directed Policing Unit. In 2011, he was promoted to Detective and assigned to undercover assignments within the Major Narcotic Detail and HIDTA Taskforce. In 2012 he was assigned to the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Detail.
In 2013, Captain Blakemore was promoted to Sergeant where he worked a variety of assignments. As Sergeant, he worked in Patrol, as the IMPACT Unit Supervisor, as the Crime Analysis Unit Supervisor, as the Kern County Auto Theft Task Force Supervisor, and the Warrants Detail Supervisor.
In 2017, Captain Blakemore was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned as the Watch Commander in the Operations Division. He was then transferred to the Support Services Division overseeing the Communications Center, Records Section, Property Section, Community Relations Unit, and Technology Development Section. In 2020, he was then transferred to the Training and Logistics Division as the Police Academy Director and Training Manager.
Throughout his career, Captain Blakemore has held other collateral assignments within the K-9 Unit as Lead Trainer, Supervisor, Manager, Field Training Officer, and Academy Instructor.
Captain Blakemore holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice from Bakersfield College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University of Bakersfield, and a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. He also possesses a California POST Management certificate.
